PSP collaborates with key partners in critical literacy programmes

The PSP is delighted to be involved in a two-year literacy programme with Wordworks to introduce and implement the ground-breaking Stellar Programme. 

1. Woodworks

The Stellar Programme provides intensive training and support to Grade R teachers to develop their theoretical knowledge and practical teaching strategies, and to build crucial literacy skills in children in a fun, story-based, activity-rich programme.

2. PSP – Pearson Vuma Literacy Project

PSP is also thrilled to collaborate with Pearson Publishing on a project to implement and evaluate a Vuma Literacy Programme, an authentically South African reading instruction programme.

The pilot project involves termly training and classroom support for Grade 1 teachers in three Guguletu schools: Vukukanye, Sokanyo and Luzuko for one year.

Pearson volunteers will visit one of the three schools regularly to offer additional support to struggling Grade 1 learners to help them improve their reading.
