At the park people can walk amongst the indigenous plants, learn from the water-wise and medicinal and useful plants gardens and observe a wide range of birds. It provides many activities for learners in Grades 4 – 9 and also possibilities for deeper understanding of the environment and social issues involved in living on the Cape Flats.

This book contains 43 practical activities which deal in an artistic way with important environmental themes and is based on the work with primary school teachers and their learners at the park.

The activities in this book include innovative engagement with concepts such as:

The Water Cycle, drainage, pollution, water issues of the Cape Flats, a retention pond; wetlands; biodiversity; habitats, food chains and webs; birds; social issues associated with low-lying areas;  indigenous and alien plants and animals and more.

This book is available in English and Afrikaans.
