The PSP has positioned itself close to the ground, investing its energies in making a constructive contribution to processes of curriculum policy interpretation on the one hand and curriculum implementation on the other hand.
The PSP offers support to teachers and education district officials working in the classroom. The PSP reasons that change and change processes can only succeed when the relevant role-players, in this case the teachers and district officials, are empowered to implement new policies in knowledgeable and practical ways.
Learning involves competent mediation. Learning is mediated via a person who is more competent in knowledge and skills than the learners. Therefore learning must be supported by quality teaching so that children can continue to build on their knowledge and skills, and progress with confidence.
At the PSP we place a strong emphasis on Language Development and Language is integrated into all aspects of our work. Our work is based on constructivist theories in terms of children’s acquisition of Language and Literacy, and their development of Mathematical and Science concepts.
