Back to Facilitators
Nocawe Malatse grew up in one of the Cape Town locations called Guguletu, meaning “Our Pride”. She completed her Diploma in Education in 1996 at Hewatt College of Education. Nocawe has taught at Luzuko Primary School in Guguletu and that is where she did her primary years as well. She was also once teaching at Impendulo Primary School in Khayelitsha.
Nocawe became permanent at Springdale Primary School in Mitchell’s Plain and that is where she developed into a passionate and highly skilled Foundation Phase teacher. During her time at Springdale, she got involved with various projects, trying to equip herself and learn about different strategies to be able to mould the lives of the learners that she regarded as her own children - so that they can not only learn how to write, read and count but that they can become successful and responsible human beings in future.
Nocawe was one of the participating teachers of the Zenex Project from 2007 to 2009. In this project, eight schools were chosen from the District South and supported with Literacy & Language as well as Numeracy & Mathematics in order to improve the level of Languages and Maths at the schools. The project was being facilitated by PSP and MEPP. While being involved with the project, she was identified as one of the strong Foundation Phase teachers. So when the post for a Language Facilitator at the PSP was advertised, she did not hesitate to apply.
Nocawe joined the PSP family in 2009 and has since grown and developed further. She is the Foundation Phase Specialist at the PSP and works in various projects, helping and supporting the teachers and their learners in Languages and Mathematics.
